With the advent of more medical procedures and techniques being developed for the further betterment of quality and extension of life, advanced technologies play an ever increasing roll towards that end. As more equipment and devices are introduced, however, storage as well as effective deployment of that technology becomes a greater challenge due to crowded floor space. Consequently more devices are now being mounted on walls and ceilings so that they can be effectively positioned when needed and conveniently stored when not. While a number of companies offer products which meet this basic function, none have been as effective in the balance of safety, aesthetics, and modularity as EquiSys.
Distributed in the United States by Surgimed Solutions, LLC, EquiSys is designed and built in Germany by CIM Med GmbH. Their quest for perfection is the culmination of years of clinical, sales, engineering, and quality experience resulting in a line that outperforms all others in every area.
Safety
Above all else, EquiSys is designed with safety as the first consideration, ensuring that both valuable equipment and invaluable personnel are not placed in any danger. While others meet the minimum safety requirement of 4 times its maximum rated capacity as prescribed by relevant governmental and industry bodies, EquiSys goes beyond with a safety rating of 6 times the rated capacity. When mounted with EquiSys, devices stay mounted.
Equally important is the protection of power and data cables without which the technology is useless. EquiSys accomplishes this by completely routing these cables through the entire length of the mount whether it is a single rigid arm or a double arm with height adjustment. Large cable ducts and pivoting joints eliminate cable kinking and damage from within while protecting against inadvertent damage from without. This is due to the innovative linkage joint design which is unique to the field, proprietary to CIM Med, and exclusively from Surgimed Solutions.
Aesthetics
When CIM Med considered the design of their product, they felt that safety and style were not mutually exclusive concepts. With EquiSys their instincts were proven correct. Soft, clean lines are more than just a phrase -in EquiSys, they are part of the definition. Powder coated castings, coupled with anodized extrusions are both interesting to look at as well as pleasing to the eye of patients, visitors, and staff. Features that were incorporated for safety reasons are also essential for aesthetics. Cluttered external cabling is unsightly and is now unnecessary with EquiSys.
Modularity
In order to remain cost competitive and still be able to provide the proper solution for every problem, EquiSys incorporates a modular design philosophy. This is done by using extruded components for the body of the arm resulting in arm length variation in order to meet the specific demand. Innovative joint component design allows for easy interchangeability in construction while still maintaining structural integrity. On the component level, the result is a simple stock supply, lower costs, and rapid delivery of almost any conceivable configuration. Further expansion of the line is consequently simplified as is customization.
Disinfection
While it has always been important for medical devices to be kept as clean possible, it is now more important than ever in order to minimize the possibility of cross infection within healthcare facilities. It is incumbent, therefore, for manufacturers to conceive of new methods and designs with which to aid clinicians in this task. Toward that end, EquiSys is unsurpassed among device mounting manufacturers. All arm segments, joints, and mounting points are completely enclosed allowing for the easy and rapid execution of all disinfection protocols. The use of antimicrobial finishes provides additional protection in combating this extremely dangerous problem.
